Termite Inspections and Treatments – A must!
No matter where your home is in the Port Macquarie–Hastings region, your home is at risk of attack from subterranean termites. That’s why you need an annual Termite inspection as a minimum.
You’ve most likely heard other people call them White Ants. In actual fact they are not even closely related to ants. Both ants and termites live in small to large colonies, but that’s just about there the similarities stop.
How termites get into your home
Subterranean termites need to maintain contact with the soil, tunnelling under the surface of the soil. When they enter a structure, they often do undetected.
The vast majority of the time, the home owner doesn’t even know they’re inside eating away at their property until Amalgamated Pest Control find them during a Timber Pest Inspection or they realise they have a termite problem when they have caused enough damage to be seen.
Subterranean termites have the ability to enter homes and buildings in a number of ways.
When they need to travel out of the soil, they will build mud tubes. This keeps termites connected to the nest and helps them maintain a constant temperature through the nest and workings and high humidity otherwise they won’t survive.
Here are some examples of how termites can enter your home. You can see why most people don’t even know they have a problem. Once they’re in, all the timber in the home is at their disposal.
What you can find during a termite inspection
Here you can see an example of a mud tube from termites on a fence that our technician found during a Timber Pest Inspection at a home in Port Macquarie recently.
Here are some termites from the same fence where we’ve opened the mud tube and you can actually see the small termites.
The only way to protect your property is to conduct regular termite inspections (not just a ‘termite check‘) on your property and implement a management plan to protect your property against attack from this pest.
How Amalgamated Pest Control can help with Termites

- We will also recommend treatment options to protect your property in the future with a full Property Management Plan Proposal.
